Before visiting the silk mill we were given information about the farming of silk worms and the harvesting of the filaments. So, we had a better idea of what we were about to see.

The Mulberry Plant

The silkworms eat fruitless mulberry leaves. Here's a sample of one of the plants growing by a sidewalk outside the factory. We didn't see this plant in tree form, so we don't know if it's exactly the same plant as the fruitless mulberry tree that grows in the United States.
