It seems that the company has dual flag ships.
This is one of them, and the ms Amsterdam is the other.

Sky Bridge for embarkation and disembarkation

Perhaps security concerns brought this about. But no longer do we embark up a gang plank.
We had something similar for disembarkation in Venice with an excalater at the terminal end.

A Look Out From Our Balcony

1:15 PM — The first thing we do when we board the ship, it to have a look around.
Then we go to the Lido buffet for a luncheon of prime rib of beef with all the trimmings.
The ship ahead of us at the dock may have been Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas.
We were to see again later at the dock in Punta Delgada in the Azores.

It appears that it will be a while before this ship can sail away.

4:10 PM — Here's just a few of our bags to be loaded.

It's not likely that they will be able to get all this (and more) loaded before our scheduled departure at 5 PM.
