Gilded Ceilings
Mosaic Floor of the Nave.
This church is largely a 12th century building, remarkable for its mosaics.
Despite some
18th century Baroque additions, Santa Maria has retained its medieval character.
The Apse
The 12th century mosaic of the apse, partially pictured below, shows the Coronation of the Virgin. She sits on Christ's right hand, surrounded by saints.
