The Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar is a place where all sorts of merchandise is for sale. Corridors form a grid where the stranger can easily loose his way. This is a place that needs sufficient time to get a full appreciation and enjoyment. The bazaar was conceived as a money making project for the mosque. For this reason the bazaar will be found adjacent to the grounds of the mosque that it serves. This one is the "granddaddy" of them all, but many others exist in the Moslem world. Now we know the origins of our local church bazaars.
