Serving as Union Headquarters during the War Between the States, the halls and mirrors of Rosalie echo a past of gunfire and galloping horses. Many of the original furnishings and antiques remain, as some were buried at the time "the Yankees are coming" was heard. The one-time white marble mantels were stained by roaring fires maintained by the soldiers quartered here, yet their beauty shines through the stains.
The white picket fence is of unusual construction, in that no nails exist in its entire structure. Rosalie is now the State Shrine of the Mississippi DAR.
