John Lawson went out one day chasing rainbows. This and the picture on the first page of the Odessa section were some of the results. Both illustrate typical scenes in West Texas. Around Odessa, however, rainbows are something of a rarity because it rains so infrequently.
A Rare Dust Storm
We are told that dust storms were once a common occurance in Odessa. Thankfully, that's no longer the case. Although, here's evidence that those cotton fields to the north do send their sand down that far once in a while. These storms are common in cotton country around Lubbock. These pictures were taken June 8, 2003 at 9:26 PM.
