The Road Past Hana

Island of Maui

Look left to see a river tumble down the cataract in the lava to the bridge.

Then look below. This is the river as it flows into the ocean. There are hundereds, if not thousands of rivers just like this one in the islands.





We were most surprised to see this little altar in a niche in the lava cliff at the edge of the road. Somebody went to the trouble, standing in the road, to setup this to honor one of the saints.





This is a picture of the forest floor. This is the way the ground looks on the east side of the island which receives huge amounts of moisture blown in by the trade winds.
