Congregational Mission

Island of Maui
Thursday, October 12th, 2000

Missionaries of the Congregational Church brought Christianity to the Hawaiians in the early nineteenth century. This is one of their mission churches. It is still an active congregation.

When you think on maintenance on your house, how many of you have to think of removing the plants growing on the exterior walls? The picture of the church window was included to illustrate the thickness of the walls of the building. The church must stay quite cool.

This is our driver/guide for the day. Chuck is very knowledgeable about the island and its history. On the right is a huge tree with philodendron twined all the way up the trunk.
