Canterbury Plain, New Zealand

Trip Day Twenty-seven: Friday, October 19, 2007
Pioneer Family Residence Next to Sheep Farm
A Pioneer Family Home

It's tea time, and we notice a picture on the mantle documenting that this house once stood alone on the prairie with not a tree or a shrub in sight.

A Private Botanical Garden

This big tree will soon have leaves to provide western shade.

Spring Buds Ready To Burst Open

Spring has sprung on the Canterbury Plain by October 19th.
The rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom and the roses will be along shortly.
This family has turned the bald prairie into a paradise.
